How to Be Climate Friendly in the 21st Century

The 21st century has become a time where climate change and global warming is one of the most difficult things to cope with apart from other aspects such as poverty, famine and conflict. The reason for this is that climate change can be felt across geographies and does not discriminate between developed communities and developing communities. As a result, there are many practices and lifestyles that many people have adapted to make sure that they live in a climate friendly manner that would be beneficial to the world.

This is a principle that can be traced all the way back to the late 1800s, in particular John Stuart Mill. In fact, his version of economics along with his lifestyle theories propagated the creation of a self-culture that should be promoted to create a better world to live in.

Many people have taken this into heart and put this into practice in the environmental sense. In other words, they make sure that their lifestyles are such that it does not harm the environment, which in turn creates a flourishing society that promotes a unique lifestyle that is good to others. Of course, perfect utilitarianism does not exist, but people can come close to it.

Related to utilitarianism is the minimalist lifestyle. This can be considered one element that contributes to a utilitarian environment. Minimalist living is simply the lifestyle adapted to make sure that consumption is at a minimum and the people are self-dependent on their own production. In other words, it tries to make sure that people rely on direct production as opposed to indirect production. Proponents argue that this results in a more conscious society that would do better than harm to the environment.

Travel Consciously

We live in a world where travel is easy due to the fact that technology and logistics have evolved a great deal. As a result, the travel industry creates quite a contribution to carbon emissions. However, many airlines and other logistics companies have created mechanisms that allow for the customers to offset their carbon emissions to make sure that they are not doing any harm to the planet. This can be termed as a climate friendly traveller. There are many ways you can track your carbon emissions, such as special calculators or even mobile applications.

Mindful Activities

Another way of being climate friendly is by doing mindful activities. There are many instances where the activities of others may look like the mindful work you are doing is pointless. However, do not make that the reason for dropping an environmentally friendly lifestyle. What you could do is lead by example and educate them whenever it is necessary. That way you will tacitly influence a society to make sure that they are mindful about their environment and would do anything within their power to keep it clean, sustainable and habitable.

In conclusion, these are just some of the ways you can be climate friendly in the present day.
